No More Annoying GIF's Now On Your Browser
The annoying GIF's made our experiences in social media more funkier. These GIF's(Graphic Interchange Format) are not only just disgusting but they drag down your available bandwidth which in turn slows down the page loading speed. So in order not to see any of the GIF's on your browser this article is very helpful. We show you in detail how to stop playing animated GIF's on your browser(Google chrome,Internet explorer and Mozilla Firefox).Let me start with Google Chrome now.In Google Chrome
Surprisingly,There is no built-in option to stop the GIF playing automatically in chrome however,I will show you the hack for this.Their are few extensions in chrome web store that let you stop playing these GIF's.Extension called "Animation policy" provides you browser tool bar tab that let you control automatic animations. You can disable these animations single time or forever. If this extension doesn't work you can give a try on 'Gir Jam' Extension
In Internet explorer,if you want to stop the animated GIF,You just need to hit 'ESC' and it will pause. However if you want to disable it completely their is another option in Internet explorer.Go to Internet Explorer and click settings menu then tap on Internet options, you will able to see a window opened as shown below
click on the 'Advanced tab' and then multimedia. Uncheck the 'Play animations in webpages' field and click OK.Now your job is done, you will not find any animated GIF playing on your webpages.
Once add-on is installed,Go to Menu>Add-ons>Extensions and choose 'Options' and select the desired setting for GIF's
click on the 'Advanced tab' and then multimedia. Uncheck the 'Play animations in webpages' field and click OK.Now your job is done, you will not find any animated GIF playing on your webpages.
In Mozilla Firefox:
Unlike Google chrome,Mozilla Firefox provides you a built-in setting. To get rid of these annoying GIF's just type about:config on address bar.You will get a warning message which warns you the changes being made further.Without typing anything else, click on I'll be careful!I promise and proceed further.
After agreeing, then type image.imagination in the search box a setting called image.animation_mode appears by default it is set to normal.Change it to None. You can set it for forever or just once.

However if you want to play and stop these GIF's as you wish,an add-on called "Toggle Animated GIF' should be installed. With this add-on feature you can disable just with a key-board or by disabling them default. It would be a better option if you don't want to play them temporarily.
